An elderly woman has been raped in her own home, police have said. Officers are appealing for information following the assault at the property in Gloucester, between Bristol Road and Seymour Road, at around GMT. Gloucestershire Police said the man was aged between 25 and 30 and is described as having a local accent, of slim build, around 5ft 8ins tall and thought to have facial hair. The force urged anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously to report it. CCTV footage is being gathered from around the local area. Sgt Faye Satchwell-Bennett said: "We're keen to hear from anyone who has any information which could assist or anyone who witnessed anything between the times of yesterday Wednesday and today. There will be an increased police presence in the area while investigations are taking place to support those with concerns, the force said.

Speaking in a new documentary, Alanis Morissette has said she was the victim of multiple statutory rapes as a teenager. The documentary, Jagged, is screening at the Toronto film festival this week. A new legal path
Key among the conditions for Jason Miller's release is a protective order keeping him from coming in contact with the year-old girl he's accused of raping. Other conditions include mandatory drug testing, location monitoring and a curfew. Miller was arrested this week after he allegedly stopped the girl in a neighborhood in the Gardere area and flashed what appeared to be a badge before putting her in handcuffs. The girl was then taken to a nearby park where she was raped in the backseat of a truck. The victim told deputies that she was let go after the assault. She was later able to help deputies identify Miller as the suspect. The sheriff's office said he admitted to the crimes when confronted by deputies. Sex crimes are notoriously difficult to prosecute - but one woman in Kansas is using a rarely used 19th Century law to ask her fellow citizens to help bring charges against the man she says raped her. In , Madison Smith alleged that a classmate attacked her when she was a university student at Bethany College in Kansas. She reported the case as a rape. The county prosecutor refused to press rape charges, however, saying Ms Smith had merely experienced an "immature" sexual encounter. Her attacker was convicted of assault. The county attorney's decision prompted Ms Smith, now 23, to use a state law dating back to to instead call up a "citizen's grand jury". It convened for the first time on Wednesday in what is thought to be the first case of its kind in the US.
